TEAM PROFILE: Mike Burke
I was born in Grand Rapids. I was baptized, and confirmed, here in Christ Church. I have been a member of this church all my life serving as an acolyte for many years.
While growing up in the church I have fond memories of our youth group and the Lenten pot luck suppers. While in high school I was involved in sports, my favorite being hockey. After high school I remained active in sports by becoming a youth hockey coach which I continued for many years.
I worked in the mines from 1962 until the mine shut down in 1986. After the mines, I returned to college and became a Chemical Dependency Counselor and have been working in that capacity ever since During that time I have had the opportunity to work in many settings from prison to halfway house. I believe being around people in all types of settings have led to my interest in becoming a member of the team in a pastoral care position.
