ST.
CLAREÕS ALTAR GUILD - 2009
It may
seem as if everything just magically appears for the services held at Christ
Church but it doesn't. The Altar Guild has many duties to perform so that
that the Worship Services can flow smoothly and the dedicated, hard-working
members of the Altar Guild accomplish them. Each month one member is
responsible to do what needs to be done to prepare for the services
These
are some of the things done:
Set
up the altar and credence table for each service of Eucharist or morning
prayer.
Put
up the psalm and hymns on boards.
Change
the liturgical colors for the seasons or special services.
Polish
the brass and silver.
Order
and set out flowers.
Wash
and iron all linens.
Order
supplies (wafers, wine, candles, etc).
Change
and refill all candles.
Prepare
the altar for baptisms, funerals, weddings, confirmations,
re-affirmation of vows, and the ordination.
Take
care of the priests albs, stoles, and chasubles.
Make
the four large Advent wreaths.
Decorate
for Easter and Christmas.
Each
member of St. Clare's will tell you it is a spiritual experience every time we
prepare the altar. This prayer defines our ministry:
Look down on our efforts, Lord, to honor your name through our fellowship and
preparing the altar and serving, as Martha prepared the table for Jesus.
May our privilege to serve you always be done with reverent hearts, knowing
that all we do is to glorify your holy name. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
St.
Clare's Altar Guild members: Irene Salisbury, Emmy Humrickhouse, Jeanne
Rasmussen, Georgianne Larson, Aggie Sewell, Paula Gillman, Linda Undem, Mary
Adams and Jill Schubert.
We are
sincerely grateful to our members of Christ Church for your support. Our
sincere thanks to Elsymae Belawich for her generosity to St. Clare's through
the years.
